Giulio Salvioni
Born in Rome in 1963, Giulio is currently a freelance journalist who earned his PhD in Architecture Technology from the University of Rome – La Sapienza in 1997. He then went on to work as a contract professor at La Sapienza until 2014.
Giulio’s interest in music and passion for audio began in the mid-1970s, when he managed to persuade his parents to buy him his first stereo system. This was the foundation of a stereo system that has continuously evolved ever since. During his university studies, Giulio then entered the DIY world by building some personal-use loudspeaker systems.
In 2008, he began collaborating with the Japanese-Korean company Bakoon Products by helping develop integrated amplifiers and phono preamps. In 2009, the late Paolo Aita recruited him to collaborate with the magazine, Fedeltà del Suono, thereby introducing Giulio to the world of journalism. From there, he wrote as a reviewer and technical expert for analog/vinyl related technology until 2015.
Currently, Giulio is a Contributing Editor for JAZZiT, Audio Review, and Audio Gallery magazines. In particular, in his role with Audio Gallery magazine, Giulio works as an Editorial Consultant and Curator of the ‘Audio Press’ and ‘Audio File’ columns, the latter of which is dedicated to the use of information technology in audio reproduction. Since 2012, he has co-hosted the “Lezioni di Ascolto” (Listening Lessons) series with Giancarlo Valletta at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome.
In his spare time, he enjoys traveling on his motorcycle and spending time with his daughter.
