Michi Prestige P430 and S430: The Series Expands with a Preamplifier and Power Amplifier

Following the X430 integrated amplifier and the Q430 CD player, Michi rounds out the new Prestige series with a pair of separate components: the P430 preamplifier and the S430 stereo power amplifier. These two units echo the aesthetic and design philosophy of the other components in the lineup, while offering what was missing: a separate system.
The Prestige series serves as a sort of entry point into the world of Michi, retaining many of the elements that characterize the brand’s top-of-the-line components but at a significantly more affordable price. The P430 and S430, together with the Q430, allow you to build a fully separate system within the same product family.

Michi Prestige P430, Analog and Digital

The P430 is much more than just an analog preamplifier. Michi designed it to serve as the true control center of the system, combining line inputs with a complete digital section, an MM phono stage, and the ability to integrate a TV via HDMI ARC. The internal architecture features a fully balanced signal path, regulated and separate power supplies, and a strong focus on noise reduction. D/A conversion is handled by the 32-bit, eight-channel ES9028PRO chip, which operates in stereo configuration and is supported by a dedicated clock system. The PC-USB input accepts PCM signals up to 32-bit/384 kHz and native DSD256, and HDMI ARC is also supported. Bluetooth connectivity with aptX HD and AAC support is included, while Roon Tested certification allows the P430 to be used with a computer or a Roon endpoint connected to the digital inputs. On the analog side, it features RCA and balanced XLR inputs, as well as an MM phono stage. Outputs include RCA and XLR connections and two mono outputs for subwoofers.

Michi Prestige S430: Power to Spare

The S430 is a Class AB stereo power amplifier built according to a philosophy that is quite traditional for Michi: a robust power supply, high current availability, and a power amplifier stage designed to handle even demanding speakers. An oversized toroidal transformer, designed and manufactured in-house, is paired with a bank of high-capacity capacitors, delivering a rated continuous power output of 230 watts per channel into 8 ohms, and 390W into 4 ohms. The rated damping factor is very high at 350 into 8 ohms at 1 kHz, allowing the S430 to drive any load with ease. RCA and XLR inputs and dual five-way speaker terminals, which are also useful for bi-wiring configurations.

Aesthetically, the two new models follow the design language introduced with the X430 and Q430: an aluminum front panel, very clean lines, and a large central display. In the case of the S430, the screen can display various measurement modes, including VU meters and a spectrum analyzer—a feature that has now become one of the hallmarks of Michi electronics.
