Copland CTA 407 Amplifier

The Copland CTA407 is the latest in the CTA “saga” from the renowned Danish manufacturer. It has been preceded by many models, from the CTA401 to the CTA408, amplifiers that have always represented the ultimate in high quality tube technology. Products ingeniously designed by Ole Moller, Copland’s deus ex machina, which have always guaranteed performance, musicality and excellent market retention. A Copland CTA is a guarantee in every respect. This latest CTA407 comes after the CTA408 and is slightly less powerful than its predecessor, at 50W per channel, due to the fact that it is equipped with 6550 valves instead of the KT150 of the 408. However, for the first time in Copland, it is equipped with an automatic bias adjustment system that allows it to fit any tube, from 6550s to KT150s via KT88s and KT120s, giving the customer the freedom to choose. The system works particularly well, showing the “health” of each tube on a synoptic panel. The internal construction is particularly thorough, with a high-performance solid-state MM/MC phono input, an excellent volume control and a remote control for input selection and level. The CTA407 is a pure analogue amplifier, with no concessions to digital, as is the Danish company’s tradition.
