Linn Majik LP12 Turntable

This time we have an iconic product, perhaps one of the most important in the history of high fidelity: the Linn Sondek LP12 turntable, in its entry-level version called the Majik. The original LP12 was introduced in 1972 by designer Ivor Tiefenbrun, who theorised the Source First principle. In his view, what was lost in the microgroove reading process was lost forever; no matter how good the downstream reproduction chain, if the message was compromised in the reading process, the final result would be poor. This approach seemed almost heresy to the audiophile culture of the time, which saw the loudspeaker as the most important component. Yet, more than 50 years on, we are still here celebrating the excellence of this Scottish turntable.
The Majik version is offered by Linn as a gateway to the LP12 system, at a decidedly competitive price and still less than the sum of the individual components if purchased separately. The turntable comes with a Majik power supply, Krane tonearm and Adikt MM cartridge. As with all Linn products, the Majik can be upgraded with progressively higher quality phono cartridges, arms, chassis and power supplies, up to and including the most expensive Klimax version.
