Aqua La Scala MKIII: what’s new

Aqua La Scala MkIII is not just an upgrade: this version obviously includes all the improvements introduced in the recent past, such as the C-core transformers, digital AQlink, USB board, etc., but in addition to the hybrid VALVE / MOSFET circuitry, the analog board now features a new analog module-developed from scratch in the brand’s labs-the PIBU (Pilot Buffer). The most important advantage offered by the PIBU is theelimination of output capacitors, no longer present in the MkIII. This, combined with the high output current capability and outstanding driving performance of the PIBU, allows for major improvements. Listening tests confirm that the new analog board combines state-of-the-art electronics with musicality, this is what the Italian company’s press release says. Improvements have also been made to the digital part, where the R2R ladder has new driver circuits implemented within the FPGA, improving the digital domain of the La Scala: with proprietary Optologic DAC technology, the FPGA-based R2R ladder DAC. Thus, the Aqua La Scala MkIII represents a significant step in perfecting the already excellent sound performance of the La Scala. Thecompany is also keen to emphasize its commitment to sustainability-in fact, Aqua’s modular approach philosophy ensures that La Scala DAC owners can upgrade to the MkIII specification, allowing them to continue to enjoy the best audio technology.

The list price of this new Aqua La Scala MKIII will be 7,850 euros.
